I drove 400 miles in a U-haul, towing a car, moved, and drove back the same day, in 110 degrees I might add.
It was another day for supermom.
The U-haul with the car attached was as long as an 18-wheeler. I kept asking if you didn't have to have a commercial license to drive this thing?! They said no, just be careful and give yourself plenty of room so you don't sideswipe anyone with the car.
Gee, thanks. I don't think I would have figured that one out unless I did go to commercial driving school!
Oh, and one other thing they said, don't back up, the car could jackknife.
OK.
The truck shook the entire time, but after awhile I got the hang of it.
The trip took longer since I never went over 50mph. I was passed by, not one, but three 18-wheelers!
We made it to our destination. I pull in the apartments and realize there is no place to drive out unless I back up.
I'll try to figure out how I'm going to get out while we're in the office getting the keys.
The office lady suggested turning around in the parking lot. It looked big enough and if there wasn't enough room I figured I could always drive up on the lot of grass, which I ended up doing.
When I look back ,the car is turned way too far to one side and the trailer part is hitting the car door. I get out to evaluate the situation and the car has come off the trailer!
I panic! I'm fixing to ruin my daughters car and we haven't even been there 24 hours! I run to the office and they send a maintenance guy to help me out. We both agree if I turn my tires just right I can get them lined up just so, and roll the car off the trailer.
Our mission was successful, the car was off the trailer and no harm was done!
After unloading the truck I arrive home at 2:30AM. I was glad to be back in a familiar area and glad this day was done!
You may or may not have noticed I gave my blog a make-over, highlights and everything. If you didn't notice, you should come around more! :)
I wanted something less busy, but you know....pretty. So I compromised and put the prettiness at the top, my banner. Glad you brought it up, speaking of my banner I changed the name. Since this is about me I wanted to personalize it, so I added my name with some bluebonnets to resemble where I'm from. I may add a few final touches here and there to the side bar, but other than that my makeover is finished. How do I look?

I'm spending the next two days getting ready to move my daughter 3 hours away. Not too far to visit, but far enough to give me her her independence.
I'll miss her dearly, it's the beginning of a new phase in our lives. She's growing up and I'm growing older. Ugh!
Have I told you lately how much I hate moving? We have enough stuff to fill an entire apartment, well except a complete bedroom set that's coming later. After two trips to Target yesterday, and 5 trips last month, we still don't have all the necessities.
My list of mommy-do's is getting longer by the minute.
I have a truck rented from U-haul, but after yesterdays shopping trip and the 5 additional boxes of stuff given to her by some good friends, (which I'm grateful for!) it's not going to be big enough!
The a/c just went out in her car. My mom sent me to a place that doesn't.work.on.a/c's, but fortunately they knew of a good place that did. After making a/c repair stop #2 they determined all the a/c parts are working, it's an electrical part that needs to be changed so it will switch from heat to a/c.
That could be totally made up and I wouldn't know it.
They refer me to yet another place. A/C repair stop #3 in full speed. Anxiously arriving, they inform me they are full to come back Monday morning. *sigh*

A girls still gotta feed her computer addiction, ya know.
I love to scrapbook and I have a gazillion photo's that I'm working on. I purchased new photo software that enhances photos and a whole lot more. I just have to figure out the "whole lot more". The instruction manual is 250 pages!

These cute little furry babies are out of control. They have taken over the house, the furniture, the food bowl and everything else they can find.
I try to keep them confined to the laundry room. It's large and plenty big enough for them all.
My back door opens into the laundry room which leads to my kitchen. There's not a door closing off my laundry room from the kitchen which means #1) I have to keep it clean, and #2) I have to find something to close the gap so they don't have full run of the house. They are big enough now to climb over everything I've put there and they're taking over quicker than I can keep up with them.
Ever wonder what those cute little darlings are going to be like when they become a teenager? For those of you who haven't got to experience the joys of teenagers, are you in for a treat! And I mean that in a good way.
If you have a teenager, remember the days when they used to be so good about putting away their toys so they could have ice-cream? Or was I the only one that used blackmail? *lol*
In the younger years when they didn't care, it was ok to have one bottle of shampoo and one body soap.
When they turn teenager it's a different story my friend! We have to have 2 different kinds of shampoo and conditioner, body soap, body scrub, feet scrub, shower gel, hair gel, leave-in hair conditioning spray, hair protector, hair spray and hair spritz.
Not to mention the two different kinds of blow dryers, the Ionic one that locks in the hair conditioning spray and the Conair that comes with curl attachments.
After blow drying, the hair has to be finished off with the special Ionic hair straighter that protects the hair from heat. Do you really think?
I'm sure I've left something out.
Boys have it way to easy!
I haven't even mentioned Maybelline and Revlon!
Hope you weren't planning on company anytime soon.
I fall for this stuff everytime. I buy it like like it's the last bottle in stock. Did you notice?
They really do grow up so fast.
*All comments are welcomed! Even if you are not participating in the Photo Hunt. :)
I've heard several people, including myself, are having problems getting pinged by Technorati.
I filled out support tickets and tried to call them, but no one replied to my emails and when I called they said they didn't have a Technical Support department. Huh?? They gave me an email address to a customer service manager, Janice jmyint@technorati.com, which I wrote to. She responded within a couple of days and told me to add the following link in my HTML since I have a feed. She stated the following:
Technorati indexes a complete blog, starting with the HTML page and assisted by RSS and Atom feeds. Since you have a feed, to aid our spiders in picking up your post information, it is recommended to associate your feed to your blog. To do this, please add the following link="alternate" code in the <head> section of your blog HTML. This will direct Technorati and other services such ourselves to your feed:
1. Macaroni Grill. I love their chicken fettuccine and their bread is to die for. They also have good house wine.
2. Red Lobster. Fried shrimp and garlic cheese biscuits. Yum
3. Texas Roadhouse. Steak and carmel, marshmallow sweet potatoes. It's more like a dessert than a side dish!
4. Magic Time Machine. If you've never been, each table is made into a theme. The waiter/waitress dress to the theme and act like that character, such as Napoleon Dynamite, Batman, etc. and their job is to make a scene and embarrass you whenever possible. You never want to ask them where the bathrooms are! It's a fun place for kids. I always took my daughter there for her birthday, and it made some great childhood memories.
5. Pizza Hut. I love pizza for breakfast, lunch or dinner or all three!
6. Taco Bueano. I know, I know it's fast food, but I love their chicken, nacho salad!
7. Quizno's. I love their toasted sub sandwiches.
8. Olive Garden. I love their garlic bread sticks dipped in fettuccine alfredo sauce. Yum, yum!
9. Cheesecake Factory. I loooove cheesecake, they have every kind you can imagine. I love anything pumpkin and they have the best pumpkin cheesecake in town!
10. IHOP. I love their fruit crepes and pancakes.
I got distracted while writing this. I had to watch Jon Bon Jovi on Larry King. He is to die for! LOL He has 4 kids, lives in New Jersey, married his high school sweetheart and is still happily married to this day. WOW!
11. Einstein Bagels. I love their blueberry and cinnamon bagels with maple, walnut cream cheese.
12. Dickey's BBQ. I love their BBQ, potato salad, baked beans, rolls, peach cobbler, it's all good!
13. Braums. I love their chocolate, vanilla twist yogurt on a waffle cone.

Over the last 2 years I have interviewed many people for an administrative position at my office. I work in Dallas in a mid-size office for a mid-size corporation. Not a huge corporation, but a stable one.
I have been more than amazed at the resumes I have seen come through my inbox and what I have seen come into my office for an interview.
Tell me this. What's the first thing you notice when you receive an email? Who it's from, right? You see who it's from before you delete, I mean read it, right?
So, here is clue number one: When submitting your resume for a job, please, please, please change your email address from sexygirl, hotchick, grannygirl, babygirl, preciousbabe, bikinibabe, hotbabe, etc. before sending in your resume! That is the first thing I notice and I can't get past it.
Sorta like when you roll out of bed and step in cat puke. Does it matter that your cat is so cute and cuddly? No. Do you want to run and snuggle with it? No. You want to kick it!
So, when I get a resume from one of those oh so flattering email addresses, I DELETE it before ever opening it up to see just how smart, I mean qualified you really are!
This is for all the other resumes that get past step one. Clue number two: Please explain why you've had SIX different jobs in ONE year that have had nothing to do with being laid off or moving?
Please, please, please tell me how I'm supposed to believe you when you say you are dependable?
We all know people searching for a job need the $$$. That is why I get resumes from CEO's, Regional Sales Directors, and CFO's applying for an office assistant position.
Clue number three: When you go for an interview, DRESS for an interview. Don't wear your tank top and capris. Spit your gum out, speak clear and answer all the questions in complete sentences. Not: huh?, ya, I dunno, letmethink letmethink, ummm, I don't remember what I did at my last job, and don't ever say even if it's the truth you need to lie...don't ever say, "I have a court date next month, if I get the job I will need to take off, my ex and I are going through a custody battle".
Clue number five: When I ask, "do you have any questions"? Please come up with one! Make one up. Say something. Act like you're interested. Remember, I know you're there for the $$$, and remember this, I have a inbox full of resumes from hotbabe.com and granny.com, so please act like your interested!
I am interviewing this week and can't wait to post some of my most "Most Memorable Interviews.
Once I came upon a new temp standing in front of the paper shredder with a confused look on her face. I asked if she needed any help and she said, "Yeah, how does this thing work?" I took the papers from her hand and demonstrated how to work the shredder. She stood there a moment with yet another confused expression, so I said, "Any questions?" She said, "Yeah, exactly where do the copies come out from?"
People always say that hard work never killed anybody. Oh yeah ??? When's the last time ya ever heard of anyone who "rested to death".
Being punctual in our Office was of no benefit what-so-ever. There was never anybody around to appreciate it.
Did ya ever notice the people who complain the most about not having enough time to do all their work are the same ones who always stop & tell everyone that they don't have enuff time to do all their work.
One of my favorite times of the year is Fall because I love Monday night football. It doesn't matter if it's the Cowboys or the Redskins. Which by the way were some of the best rivalry games in the league.
I don't follow the Cowboys like I used to. In fact, the last game I went to was 4 years ago. We had some friends down from New York who wanted to see the game. It was 114 degrees outside and they wanted to have a tailgate party. They didn't care that it was 114 degrees, because they didn't quit understand just how hot it gets!
So trying to be a good hostess we arrive 2 hours early. About an hour of baking in the sun, they are hot. They end up piling in the cars for some a/c for the next hour.
And it gets better!
If you've ever been to the Texas Stadium you know there is no roof. It's open so if it's hot and sunny outside, it's hot and sunny inside. My seat was directly under the sun which meant no relief in site. I ended up having to leave. Not just move seats, but I had to leave the game. I ended up at the hospital because I was dehydrated. And of course no one else was affected by the heat, just me. I guess I'm a whimp when it comes to hot weather.
But nonetheless, Fall is not Fall without football.
'Monday Night Football' Changes the Channel"After 35 Years on ABC, ESPN Will Take Over Beginning in 2006" ABC's "Monday Night Football," which revolutionized broadcasting of the National Football League when it was launched 35 years ago, will end its unprecedented run on network television after the 2005 season and move to the ESPN cable network.
Does this mean no more of John Madden's etch-a-sketch instant replays??
